Men of
the Abia State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps,
NSCDC have rescued over 20 young pregnant women in a baby factory it
discovered at Umunkpeyi in Isiala Ngwa South LGA, following a tip off.
Parading the rescued women and some of the workers in the baby factory, the state commandant of NSCDC, Andy Dateer, said the baby factory is named Nma Charity and Motherless Babies’ Home, and that the owner who is now at-large, brings in men to impregnate the girls. He said after delivery, the babies are sold, and the mothers paid peanuts.

He said three children under the age of two, who were being prepared for sale, were rescued while four ‘social workers’ and four men were arrested in the raid.
One of the pregnant women was reportedly
very ill and in a critical condition. She was immediately rushed to the
hospital for medical attention.
Mr Dateer said the NSCDC will monitor the repatriation of the girls back to their respective homes.
