President Goodluck Jonathan has forwarded a proposed budget
of N322.6biilion to the House of Reps for the Niger Delta Development
Commission for its operations in 2014 in Abuja on Wednesday.
The budget includes N15.8bn for personnel
cost, the recurrent expenditure for N10.1bn, while N2.2bn was proposed
for capital. FCDA gets N271.1bn and in which out of N49.2 goes into
personal cost and N62.8bn for overhead costs. The remaining N159bn takes
care of the “capital projects for the service of the FCT.”
The President’s letter which was read to lawmakers by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Reps,
Mr. Emeka Ihedioha, revealed that most of the funds i.e N295bn will be
expended on projects and external contract related to the NDDC. In the letter Jonathan said the 2014 budget which is slightly more than that of 2013 by 2.1 per cent, will be slated on another legislative day for debate and second reading by lawmakers.
