The Federal Government
concluded plans to train about 100,000 youths in bricks moulding,
Wednesday, with the importation of 774 machines form South Africa which
is to be distributed in all 36 states.
The Special Adviser to the President on Youth Empowerment, Ambassador
Obi Adim, who was represented by the National Coordinator of IYEEP, Mr.
Nwoke Obinna, said that the training, which would be carried out under
the Integrated Youth Economic Empowerment Programme, was meant to uplift
the socio-economic status of the beneficiaries.
The aide who revealed that the machine cost the government $120, 000
(N1.9million) went further to explained that the training would also
help in addressing building collapse as bricks would be produced in
commercial quantities.
The machine would also be used in producing other cement-related products
like interlock and rings for culverts. Products from the training would
be used in the construction of the 6,000 housing units’ project of the
Federal Capital Territory.
