Four more
patients, who had been undergoing treatment for the Ebola virus
disease, were on Monday discharged from the Lagos treatment centre,
after they had been certified free of the disease.
The three medical personnel were said to have participated in the treatment of the index case (the Liberian, Patrick Sawyer, who was the first person to die of the disease), while the fourth person was a female patient at the time the index case was on admission.
The statement read, “The Minister of Health Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu has announced that four additional confirmed cases of Ebola Virus Disease who have been managed successfully and are now disease free have been discharged home today.
The Minister
of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, who disclosed this in a statement

It will be
recalled that the minister on Saturday, announced that the first
Nigerian to be diagnosed of EVD, a female doctor, had been discharged
after she was treated and healed of the disease.
The minister had said that the total number of confirmed cases of EVD in Nigeria, remained at 12 while the number of deaths due to EVD was four and number of persons under surveillance in Lagos and Enugu was 189 and six respectively.
He had also said the patients under treatment had been moved to the new 40-bed capacity isolation ward provided by the Lagos State Government.
