A newborn pronounced dead at birth miraculously began breathing on her own 28 minutes later. According to Metro Halifax, 34 year old Robin Cyr gave birth to her fourth child last Saturday morning in Halifax, Nova Scotia, but was told the baby girl had died from being wedged in the birth canal during delivery.
Doctors tried to revive the baby for 25 minutes to no avail. So they took her out of the delivery room but a few minutes later, a stuttering, breathless nurse rushed back into the room to say the baby had started breathing again.
Recounting her ordeal, Robin said she laid on the bed waiting after delivery, for 25 minutes, for any sign of
life.
“My aunt looked at me and said, ‘Your baby girl’s gone,’” adding that the baby’s body was taken out of the room after being declared dead. Suddenly, another nurse came over, two minutes later…she couldn’t talk. She was speechless, and another nurse came over and said, ‘Your baby’s breathing.
My aunt was there, and it’s a blessing because her prayers are very deep and strong. When she started praying, my baby came back.”
Robin asked her doctors what brought the baby back to life but they had no answers. A flummoxed surgeon told Cyr’s family that he had no explanation for the seemingly impossible recovery.
“He said it’s a miracle. He said, ‘I’m very sorry I gave up on your baby when I did, because I turned around and she’s breathing on her own.’”The 4kg, chubby little girl – with an impressive shock of dark hair – is now breathing on her own in the neonatal intensive care unit, and looks like any other healthy newborn baby. Her parents already had a name for her in mind but they are considering something different given the incredible turn of events.
“Everybody just keeps saying, Miracle, Miracle,” an excited Robin said.
