Manchester United Owner Malcolm Glazer Dies At 85

Owner of Manchester United and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Malcolm Glazer, has passed away at the age of 85.
The team announced Glazer’s death tonight. He had bought the team in 2005.
Glazer is survived by his wife, Linda, six children and 14 grandchildren.

Lorry Driver Caught Skyping While Driving

A French lorry driver was caught on Britain’s busiest motorway having a Skype conversation.

The Police pulled over the 35-year-old motorist after filming him holding the webcam chat with a computer on his dashboard as he drove along the M25 last night near Thorpe, Surrey.

The Officers received a call at about 9.15pm from a motorist who reported that he saw the the driver watching television while driving.

The lorry, which had French plates, was stopped at Junction 14 near London Heathrow Airport, where Surrey Police officers discovered that the driver had been using the social network.

The driver has been ordered to pay a roadside deposit fine of £500 towards the prosecution costs and will be reported for summons for driving without due care and attention.

President Goodluck Jonathan's wife, according to a report on Punch, on Tuesday advised Nigerians to desist from abusing her husband because God Himself made him the head of the nation.

“I Know Where Boko Haram Leader Is” – Sheikh Zakzaky

Renowned Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky said the Boko Haram leader, Shekau is hiding in a military camp in the country, not even outside the shores of Nigeria. Zakzaky, who is also the leader of the Shittes Muslim group-the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, declared on Saturday that the Nigeria military knew the whereabouts of the most wanted leader of  violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram, Sheikh Abubakar Shekau.
Asking the military to henceforth stop fooling Nigerians, Zakzaky insisted that there was nothing like Boko Haram, noting that the whole scam was aimed at balkanizing the country, using ‘terrorism’ as a launch-pad. Zakzaky noted that apart from balkanizing the country, Boko Haram was being used as tool for the Western countries to invade Nigeria just as they did in other countries in order to plunder the nation’s resources.
The cleric , who said he knows the hideout of wanted Boko Haram leader, alleged collaboration with Nigeria’s military authorities, insisting that the activities of  the Boko Haram sect  was part of covert operations of a section of the West to balkanize Nigeria and plunder the nation’s resources.

Another tragedy averted as police defuse bomb in Jos

Police in Plateau state have defused a bomb after they were alerted by citizens. According to reports from Telegraph, tragedy was averted in Jos, the Plateau State capital, when another bomb was defused by security operatives earlier today (Monday). The improvised explosive device (IED) was planted in front of Hamza Telephone store on Ahmadu Bello Way. An alert citizen reportedly noticed the package and notified the police, which sent its Bomb Disposal Unit to neutralise the device. This is coming after three deadly explosions rocked Jos in the last one week.

Chibok: Israel Sends Anti-Terror Experts To Join Search Forces

Israel has, on Tuesday, joined the help team by sending two anti-terror experts to Nigeria to join in the search for the chibok girls.

An Israeli security source revealed that the country has sent two advisers who have dealt in terrorist matters in the past to aid in the donation of intelligence to enable the search mission. He however told AFP that the pair are not currently serving as intelligence personnel for the Israeli government neither are they soldiers or officers or even part of the security system.

This action is followed by the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu’s call On May 11, to the President Goodluck Jonathan with an offer to help search for the school girls.

“We are prepared to help in locating the girls and to fight the cruel terror which has struck you,” Netanyahu’s office quoted him as telling the president. Jonathan accepted immediately.

“President Jonathan welcomed the offer by Netanyahu to send a team of Israeli counter-terrorism experts to assist in the ongoing search and rescue operations,” the Nigerian leader’s office said.

Dangote To Create Over 100,000 Jobs

The Dangote Group has made known its intention to create about 160, 000 jobs in Kogi state through agriculture.

This was stated during a delegation led by the technical adviser to the President of the company Engineer Joseph Makoju, to brief the Governor of the state, Governor Idris Wada on plans to putting up a sugar factory.

Revealing that the project will commence this November, in his speech, he said Kogi is one of the seven states in the country where the company hopes to establish sugar factories. He further went ahead to say that the company’s investment in agriculture is aimed at creating jobs and wealth, as well as assist in the transformation agenda of the federal and state governments.

Governor Idris Wada in his response assured the Dangote Group of the necessary support, adding that land has been acquired for the project.

 Over 200 people, according to new updates, were killed in the tragic Jos bomb blasts that occurred today, up from the official 72 dead released earlier by government sources.

The bomb blasts had occurred after two vans exploded at the market. First vehicle to explode was a Peugeot J5 van, with the registration number XG 148 BLD, then the second blast was carried out with a Toyota van, with a Gombe state license plate number. Eyewitnesses are saying the second car, a Toyota Sienna van, had been abandoned since 6 AM Tuesday morning. The car exploded after a beeping sound was heard by curious local residents.

The second blast killed more people than the first one as many residents and traders, who had fled the scene over the first explosion, tried to join rescue agencies to save the injured and retrieve the bodies of the dead. Men of the fire service, who responded to distress calls to fight the resultant inferno, were said to have stayed far away from the market over fears that more bombs could have been planted in the market.

500 Traditional Hunters Offer To Go Search For Abducted Chibok School Girls

Traditional hunters numbering up to 500 have offered to go in search of the over 200 school girls still in Boko Haram captivity.
The ages of the hunter range from as young as 18 to as old as 80, and they say were selected by their peers to carry out this duty.
The hunters didn’t consider themselves better than the Nigerian army, but according to their spokesperson, they “know the bush better.”
The hunters have been gathered for 2 weeks and are waiting for the government’s permission to go look for the girls.

TRAGIC SUNDAY: Fire Outbreak Destroys 120 Shops In Lagos

 

At least 120 open shops used in storing palm oil were on Sunday morning razed at the popular Daleko market in Mushin, Lagos.
The Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Rasak Fadipe, told NAN that some of the shops were also used in storing vegetable oil.
Fadipe said that the fire started at about 1:00 a.m., while the firefighters arrived at the scene at about 1:50 a.m., stressing that they were able to bring the fire under control at about 9: 00 a.m.
He said preliminary investigations revealed that the fire was caused by a power surge, stressing, however, that there was no casualty in it.
Fadipe advised Nigerians to overhaul electrical appliances in their homes and offices, from time-to-time, to avoid fire outbreaks.
NAN reports that the Lagos State Fire Service responded to 363 fire incidents during the first quarter of 2014.

Four Britons are missing at sea after the yacht they were sailing from the Caribbean to the UK is believed to have capsized in the mid-Atlantic Ocean. The crew of the Cheeki Rafiki 40ft performance yacht were returning from Antigua Sailing Week – which is one of the world’s top regattas. On Thursday they ran into difficulties but the crew lost contact with the yacht’s charter firm while they were diverting to the Azores early on Friday morning.

JayZ and wife Beyoncé surprised the world on Saturday night with a fake movie trailer for their On The Run Tour, which kicks off next month. Filled with violence, car crashes and explosions the new spoof trailer no doubt cost more than most independent releases and certainly had more big names than any indy flick.

The tour starts in Miami in June and goes to Canada and through the United States until August 6, when it ends in San Francisco, California. Tickets for the tour are some of the most expensive of any pop concert in recent years costing over $300 on average.

Nigeria Kidnapped Schoolgirls: Boko Haram 'Prepared to Begin Release of Up to Half of the Girls'?!

Found this breaking story on TelegraphUK and according to them, sources close to Boko Haram, in an exclusive chat, told them Boko Haram has dropped demands for its top commanders to be released in talks with the Nigerian government and is prepared to start releasing up to half its kidnapped schoolgirls in coming days,

The militant Islamist group, which kidnapped more than 200 schoolgirls a month ago, is willing to conduct a "gradual" release of its hostages in return for the release of Boko Haram prisoners in Nigerian jails, it was claimed.

Boko Haram Sends Letter to Makurdi Government College, Threatens to Invade & Abduct Male Students

The Principal of Government College, Makurdi Benue State, Godfrey Ugudu, on Saturday said the school has received letters from Boko Haram sect threatening to attack the school. Ugudu, who announced this at a news conference in Makurdi today says the school received two letters which had the same content on 14 May.
