One Of The Women Killed in NIS Stampede in Port Harcourt Buried (Photo)

The first of the at least 20 people killed during the Nigeria Immigration Service test stampede last Saturday was buried today.

Lucy, a woman in her thirties, lived at "German Butcher" Elelenwo in Port-Harcourt and according to her family and close friends, she was preparing to get married before the fateful incident took her life. Lucy reportedly gave up due to the density of crowd, who had surged forward and ran over scores of others, overwhelming the capacity of the center.

She was buried by her family in her home town in Akwa-Ibom State, earlier on today.

Popular Yoruba actor, Ganiyu Oyeyemi popularly known as Ogunjimi in Nollywood  has been arrested by the Osun State Police Command for allegedly raping one of his daughter’s friends at Osogbo, his home town.

SunNews reports that the Yoruba actor, known for violent roles in Yoruba films was arrested last Tuesday by the Police and detained at the Oke-Baale division of the Nigeria Police, after the victim had reported him. According to a competent Police source, the actor had been transferred to the  Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) of the state police command for further interrogation on the matter.

Tears flowed  uncontrollably when the Samson family received news that their  17-year-old daughter, Forester Samson had been stabbed to death in far away Moscow, the capital  of Russia.

According to a family source, Forester was sponsored abroad by one Mercy who is suspected to be trafficking  Nigerian girls  on the promise that she would assist them  with  decent jobs in Russia. The teenager  without hesitation, but with the approval of her mother had jumped at the offer with high hopes. Only for them to get a call from  Mercy, on Tuesday March 4,  2014 that Forester had died in an inferno. That Forester was stabbed before being set ablaze. The deceased’s elder sister, Sonia Samson told TheSunNews:

Nitabai, a former university lecturer, said his abductors fed him with garri and oil for the 18 days he was held captive. He was blindfolded throughout the period. OJB sets up Kidney Foundation

Prolific music producer Babatunde Okungbowa aka OJB has set up a kidney related foundation that would focus on helping kidney patients in the country. OJB who is still recuperating from a Kidney transplant he had last year in India spoke with Encomium magazine about the Foundation

"It  would be called OJB Foundation. We are trying to set up one or more dialysis centers which patients will use at highly affordable cost. To this end we are discussing with partners who would make this happen. We are about to start the programme. We don't just want to be begging for funds. We have to look for a sustainable format. So we want to start a Save 20 campaign. From there, we move on with the support of the private sector, Government and Non Governmental Organizations, NGO" OJB said.

OJB also said he is currently working on his new album which is expected to drop in June.

A newborn pronounced dead at birth miraculously began breathing on her own 28 minutes later. According to Metro Halifax, 34 year old Robin Cyr gave birth to her fourth child last Saturday morning in Halifax, Nova Scotia, but was told the baby girl had died from being wedged in the birth canal during delivery.
